Our Catastrophe Claims team is growing, and we are seeking an experienced Catastrophe Field Claims Specialist to support catastrophe events across the region. Reporting to the Manager, National Catastrophe Claims, this role is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of moderate to high-complexity residential property claims arising from catastrophe events.
The Catastrophe Field Claims Specialist delivers on-site inspections, provides exceptional customer service during times of loss, and works collaboratively with policyholders, vendors, and internal partners to bring claims to fair and timely resolution while meeting performance, quality, and customer satisfaction standards.

Accountabilities:
- Conduct on-site investigations and inspections for residential property claims arising from catastrophe events
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle moderate to high-complexity property claims, including large loss files
- Interpret insurance policy wordings and determine coverage, liability, and appropriate reserves
- Document claim files thoroughly with notes, evaluations, estimates, and decision rationale
- Prepare, review, critique, and negotiate reconstruction estimates using industry-standard estimating platforms
- Ensure prompt, fair, and equitable claim resolution in accordance with company guidelines and authority levels
- Process claim payments within established authority
- Communicate empathetically and professionally with policyholders during stressful loss situations
- Work collaboratively with contractors, restoration vendors, engineers, and other service providers to bring claims to completion
- Negotiate settlements with insureds and vendors in alignment with business standards
- Support catastrophe response initiatives and contribute to meeting productivity, quality, and customer service objectives
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to claims practices and processes
- Provide guidance or support to Claims Assistants or junior team members as required
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience adjusting residential property claims, including moderate to complex losses
- Experience handling catastrophe or large-loss residential property claims preferred
- Post-secondary education, diploma, or relevant certification
- CIP designation completed or in progress
- Strong knowledge of property coverage interpretation and claim investigation
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume pending inventory in a fast-paced CAT environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-service mindset
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned CAT territory
Technical & Industry Experience:
- Proficiency with property estimating software (e.g., Xactimate, Xactanalysis)
- Experience using claims management systems (e.g., Guidewire ClaimsCenter)
- Ability to review and negotiate complex reconstruction scopes and pricing
Bonus Qualifications:
- IICRC Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- HAAG Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience adjusting auto claims is an asset
- Bilingualism is considered an asset

Compensation
Expected compensation for this role ranges from $ 67,200.00 - 109,725.00 annually. Actual salary offered to successful candidates will vary based on their skills and experience.
